Corporate Citizenship — Win-win

One of today’s Yahoo’s most-viewed stories was about Georgia Smith, a Brooklyn Science teacher who decided to get children in the Laundromat to read rather than play video games.

Last Spring Smith got Clean Rite to donate $12,000 towards books. At first, Smith started reading to the children. Then, they began reading to each other. Before long, they were asking for help with their homework. Their parents noticed — and cared.

Soon it spread to another Clean Rite. The kids kept coming. College students started to volunteer for credits.

Now, what parent wouldn’t drive 5 minutes further to go to the laundromat that helps their kids learn to read?

What’s good for the people is good for business.
